Danah and I watched the Hunger Games tonight and it absolutely rocked. I think it even held its own with the book, which also rocked.
So often movies fall short of the book, but I think this one held its own, if not slightly surpassed its print sibling.
And it seems my assessment follows the rest of the public. The movie blew out the box office, grabbing the third biggest opening weekend of all time. It also earned better-than-solid ratings on Rotten Tomatoes.
This incredible success by Suzanne Collins, the writer behind the Hunger Games, should go miles toward motivating thousands of starving writers around the globe and should buoy the spirits of book publishers throughout the country. Success — and I mean insane, incredible, impossible success — can be closer than you ever think.

P.S. Thanks to all who are helping make my first novel — well, sort of my first novel — a huge success! It’s gone as high as below 21,000 in its first two months and that’s with no marketing budget, no publishing company promoting it, and no reviews in any book magazines or websites. As a reminder, you do not need a Kindle to buy my book. You can read it from your computer, laptop, ipad, phone, or other device with this free download. And you can buy my book here, for $3.49. Read reviews of it here.
