Seven years ago, I went on a blind date with a woman I met on MySpace. It started like quite a few before it: with a meet up in a very public place at Panera. At the time, I was heavily in debt with a pretty bleak outlook for my company, but still absolutely convinced of my long-term success.
And I desperately wanted to find a woman who would overlook the $400 apartment and scary financial picture. A woman who’d believe in me and encourage me and support me, all while helping guide me through some troubled waters ahead on the horizon.
I found that and a whole lot more when I found Danah Akin Mitchell. I found a woman I could be silly with. A woman I could be real with.
Even better, I found a woman with a keener business mind than even I possess, and a woman that gets people and can discern trouble well before it arrives. She has an intuitive sense for how things should be handled, and an incredible understanding of character, which has done much for my writing career.
We’ve traveled some rough waters these past seven years, but I can’t imagine anyone else I’d rather have in the boat with me.
She’s my soulmate and my best friend, and I’m glad that even after seven years, we still make each other smile and laugh like we did that first night at Panera.
Keep the faith,
Stan R. Mitchell

P.S. You should really consider buying this book: The Shaolin Workout: 28 Days to Transforming Your Body and Soul the Warrior’s Way. It’s absolutely changed my life for the better.
Congrats, my man! I know the feeling, my wife completes me in ways I’d have never imagined prior to meeting her! Good for you guys!

Congrats to both of you! And Stan, recall that years ago I’d predicted a sunny future back when you were in the dumps. I trust that pep talk helped. I’m glad that you two have each other and that your future as a revered author is coming true!

Thanks, Nancy!!! remember that conversation, well!! It helped a lot, even if it was difficult to see back then! (That was, as you may recall, before I had regained my confidence!)

A little advice from the older then dirt generation. Always kiss before you go
to sleep, kiss when you wake up, kiss when you leave each other for the day and kiss when you come back together. Always respect each other in all
things. Remember, life is not fair, there will be good and bad times ahead.
Just love each other and trust in God.

That’s great advice, Bruce. I hope your’e doing well, and I hope my sappy post didn’t bring you much sadness. Wasn’t even thinking of that when I wrote it… : /

Lots of edumacatered folks say it takes hard work and perseverance to stick with a partner, that it’s a great accomplishment to make a relationship work.
Sometimes, though, I think it’s just fun.

Congratulations, and many more wonderful years ahead. I also wanted to tell you how proud I am of you for being able not just to write and publish, but to make a living at it. It’s a dream many have and very few ever fulfill. It’s a tribute not just to your talent, but also to your determination and work ethic. And it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy!
