Ravens take the Super Bowl; Danah and I celebrate like crazy!

Danah and I enjoyed the Super Bowl tonight at a small party with two couple friends.

2013-02-03 22.02.02(1)We were all in for the Ravens from the moment the Patriots (my favorite team the past few years) and the Packers were beat out of the Playoffs.

Weirdly, Danah and I both respected and appreciated the 49ers big time last year, and most of this year. That is until their Coach benched Alex Smith following his injury. It was an absolute jerk move to make against a player who was playing well enough to not even have come close to losing his job.

But once the Patriots and Packers were out, we knew who we were for.

Ravens all the way.

Ravens because the 49ers coach is a jerk.

Ravens because we love Ray Lewis.

Ray Lewis has reminded me of Reggie White for a long time and while I know there are plenty of haters against him, I say let the past go and forgive the man. He’s influenced and inspired millions, myself included. Big time, in fact.

One of the things Shaolin Kung Fu teaches is livign in the moment, and few people live in the moment — and with as much passion — as Ray Lewis. It’s something we could all learn from him.

You only have this moment, right now, once. Seize it. Breathe it. Live it.

So, with that, here’s a couple of Ray Lewis tribute clips. Watch them and get fired up. Get off your ass, let out a war cry, and get after your goals.

P.S. Please accept the greatest gift I can give, a book I believe to be worth $10,000.

P.P.S. Thanks to all who continue to make my novels a success. I seriously couldn’t have done it with everyone’s support. I’m excited to say that Little Man, and the Dixon County War  has gone as high as No. 16 on the Amazon UK Paid List (see here and here). My second novel, Sold Outhas also done well, going as high as No. 81 on the Amazon Paid List for the category of War (see here and here). Learn more about both books here.

More ‘terrible’ than Tebow? The Jets

I didn’t think this was possible, but the Jets situation has gotten worse.

A bunch of players have come out and said Tim Tebow wasn’t an option as starter, and that he was “terrible” at QB in practice. Here’s a column about it, which defends Tebow.

Honestly, it’s almost painful to watch what Tebow is going through. He’s on a bad team, in a terrible locker room.

The Emperor Has No Clothes

If you’re like most NFL fans, you know the Jets suck. Bad.

They’re 3 and 6, and really should be 2 and 6 as they got lucky beating the Dolphins the first time.

Everyone across the league is laughing at them, but what does Rex Ryan — their coach — say?

Well, after being hit with the award of most over-rated coach in the NFL, Ryan has the audacity to say, “At the end of the year, we’ll see who’s overrated.”  (Yep, he really said that. Just hit that link in this paragraph if you don’t believe me…)

And then on this same team, we have starting QB Mark Sanchez.

Surely, he sees something different than his delusional coach, right?

Nope. Sanchez said this whopper in conference call with reporters yesterday: “I feel like we’re close.” Yep, and that quote is from the New York Jets website itself. (Link here.)

Sorry, Mark. But you’re not close. Your team sucks, and you’re playing terrible yourself. Here’s a few quotes closer to reality about you…

From the New York Post, and this writer was one of your fans:

“I have been in Sanchez’s corner all the way, because I have seen him rise to the big playoff occasions, and because of my reservations about Tebow, who should be a running back. I have only now wavered in my belief that he gives the Jets the best chance to win. Can Tebow do much worse than 9-for-22 for 124 yards with one horrific interception and one fumble? Probably. Can Tebow do better than three wins in his last 12 games? Possibly. Sanchez is 11-14 over his last 25 games. His regression is regressing. He cannot possibly lead or inspire playing like this.”

From Opposing Views:

“Now, I know that there is more to the Jets struggles than Mark Sanchez, but yesterday Sanchez was a miserable 9 for 22 with a fumble, interception in the end zone, and once again, 0 points. Sanchez has now completed less than 50% of his passes in 5 of the Jets 9 games (4 of those games being losses coincidentally). Not only that, but after his two turnovers yesterday, Sanchez now has 17 in 9 games. … Sanchez is turning the ball over at a sickening rate. … Sanchez is struggling in the red zone.”

There’s really not much more to say. It doesn’t matter what the coach or QB says. The Jets are terrible.

And I think Coach Ryan is refusing to play Tebow because he’s stubborn, and he doesn’t want to admit that bringing Tebow on the team was a really stupid idea. One of the most collosally stupid NFL moves that I’ve seen in a long time. (About as stupid as bringing on an offensive coordinator that you don’t like, which Rex Ryan also managed to do.)

And, no, before you go there, I’m not one of Tim Tebow’s religious fanatical fans.
