Breaking into the Top 100 again with my Western novel

Wow. So proud that tonight my book “Little Man and the Dixon County War” broke into the top 100 Amazon UK Paid List again.

That’s the fourth time this has happened, and it always just blows me away that my first book could climb that high when it’s competing against so many great books out there. And amazingly, I’ve now got it priced at $4.99 instead of $2.99 when it made it before.

Thanks to what are apparently my fans in the UK, most of whom will probably never see this! (I can see where my visitors come from, and I don’t get many from the UK, so the book must be spreading by word of mouth.)

And thanks again to my awesome wife Danah for all her support and encouragement, and for designing an incredible cover for the book — one that literally blows away those from some of the best book cover designers in New York.

P.S. Please accept the greatest gift I can give.

P.P.S. Thanks to all who continue to make my novel Little Man, and the Dixon County War a huge success! It’s gone as high as No. 16 on the Amazon UK Paid List (see here and here), landing smack dab between a Louis L’Amour and Zane Grey book. And don’t forget to check out Sold Out if you’re interested. It’s already gone as high as No. 81 on the Amazon Paid List for the category of War. (Link to be uploaded soon.) You can learn more about both books here.

My book, now available in paperback

All right guys, you can now get my book (Little Man, and the Dixon County War) in paperback form.

I hadn’t planned on printing it, since I really wanted to get my next two novels finished — both are action/adventure and will appeal to a larger audience, plus they’re nearly done.

But, the book has done so well — and the demands have been so insistent — that I got it formatted and proofed.

So, if you want to buy it in paperback, it’s $9.99 and you can do it here. (The company is owned by Amazon, so you can trust them.)

J.A. Konrath — an author you want to know

I just finished two great books, from a new author (for me) that I hadn’t heard of. His name is J.A. Konrath, and he writes like a buzz saw. Sharp. Loud. And scary.

The first I read was “Shot of Tequila.” It’s without question one of the best books I’ve read in at least a year or so. It’s a straight-up mob story with plenty of action, blood, and tension. So many times I think there’s no way the main character can get out of the situation he’s in, and so many times he does. All in a believable fashion, with plenty of back clues that were in hidden (not really) in plain view.

The second book of his I just finished with “Bloody Mary.” It’s a super-tense police thriller that I can’t say much about without giving away too much. It just barely fell below “Shot of Tequila.” But “Bloody Mary” — with less action — has far more anxiety and tension. It’s honest-to-goodness almost spooky, and there’s not a single ounce of horror or supernatural involved. It’s just you’re living the book with the main character — a police detective — and she’s basically being stalked. The killer keeps doing things to get in her head, and by the end, she knows the killer is after her. And he’s an incredible character, too. As fearsome a foe as I’d want to face, and I don’t fear many foes.

Somehow, Konrath nails both characters and pace; something most authors struggle with. In my opinion, most authors either have incredible characters or an out-of-this world ability to come up with plot and tension. Rarely do the two combine. And when they do, said author gets rich and famous.

Anyway, if you haven’t checked out J.A. Konrath, you might put him on your reading list. I guarantee you won’t regret it. (And don’t believe just me. J.A. Konrath has written more than a dozen books, had his stories appear in more than 60 magazines, and has sold more than 500,000 ebooks. That number will continue to go up, by at least about ten more before I’m through this year.)

P.S. I’ve lowered the price of my book to 99 cents for a limited time, and since I continue to get many of the same questions, let me lay out the facts. First, if you want to buy my ebook, Little Man, and the Dixon County War, it’s here. You can read a long sample of the book if you’re on the fence about whether you’re interested or not.

Second, some have said, “I’d love to buy it, but I don’t have a Kindle.” Well, you don’t need one. There’s a free reading application that will let you read my book and thousands of others on your computer. That link is here. (I warn you though, that’s a very addictive program to have… The price, selection, and convenience of an online bookstore will win you over quickly.)
